March 2026

Every year, January 25 marks National Day Against Sexism. It’s the perfect opportunity to launch or reignite awareness efforts within your organization. But a successful awareness day can’t be improvised. Here are the key steps to organizing an impactful and sustainable event.

Why organize a day to raise awareness about sexism

Beyond the legal obligation to prevent such behavior (Article L.4121-1 of the Labor Code), a dedicated day provides an opportunity to raise collective awareness. The #StOpE 2025 survey reveals that 77% of female employees regularly face sexist comments or decisions at work. A well-designed day can help encourage open discussion and bring about behavioral change.

The 301 organizations that have signed the #StOpE initiative have committed to implementing at least one priority action from among the collective’s eight commitments. Organizing an awareness-raising day directly addresses several of these commitments: informing, training, distributing educational resources, and encouraging all employees to get involved.

6 Steps to a Successful Day

1. Define the objectives and the target audience

What do you hope to achieve? Raise awareness among all employees about the basics of the topic? Train managers to respond appropriately? Launch a reporting system? Your objectives will determine the format, the presenters, and the key messages.

2. Choose the right time

January 25 (National Day Against Sexism) and March 8 (International Women’s Day) are natural opportunities. But you can also incorporate awareness-raising efforts into key internal events: company seminars, Quality of Life at Work Week (June), and Diversity Week.

3. Combine formats

The most effective programs combine several formats throughout the day:

  • An opening event (conference, testimonial, screening) to foster engagement
  • Small-group workshops (educational games, role-playing exercises, quizzes) to bring the experience to life
  • An exhibition like the Musee des Zorreurs d’Accordia, a traveling exhibition on sexism in the workplace, which makes a powerful impact on employees
  • A closing session featuring concrete commitments from management for the future

4. Involve management

The visible commitment of the Executive Committee is a key factor for success. An introductory statement from the CEO, the signing of a charter, and the announcement of concrete measures: these actions lend weight to the initiative and signal that the issue is being taken seriously at the highest level.

5. Communicate before, during, and after

Before: Teaser, invitation, sharing of key figures. During: Coverage on the intranet, photos, testimonials. After: Summary of discussions, action plan, date of the next step. The event is not an end in itself; it is the starting point for an ongoing process.

6. Measure the impact

Participation rates, participant satisfaction, trends in reports, and survey results at 3 and 6 months: define your metrics in advance so you can measure the event’s actual impact.

The formats that work best

Awareness-raising games

Educational games help create a space where participants actively engage, become aware of their biases, and exchange ideas without the defensiveness that a lecture-style format can often provoke. Accordia offers a range of games addressing sexism, discrimination, and inclusion.

Traveling exhibitions

The Musee des Zorreurs is a unique format that allows you to reach a large number of employees throughout the day. Participants move around freely, making it compatible with operational constraints (no need to block off specific time slots).

Role-playing workshops

How should you respond to a sexist joke during a meeting? How can you address inappropriate behavior? Role-playing workshops help participants apply what they’ve learned and build their confidence to take action in their daily lives.

How much does an awareness day cost?

The budget depends on the organization’s goals and size. A typical day might include:

  • Rental of a traveling exhibition
  • Workshops led by specialized consultants
  • Communication materials (posters, promotional items, videos)
