Glass walls
Glass walls refer to a phenomenon in the professional world where women, although they manage to reach senior positions in companies, often find themselves confined to departments considered non-strategic, such as administration or communications. This concept highlights a subtle form of professional segregation which limits women's access to the most influential and decision-making functions in the company, generally associated with the operational or financial sectors. Glass walls thus illustrate an invisible barrier which, while enabling hierarchical ascent, maintains a separation between positions of power traditionally occupied by men and those attributed to women, perpetuating gender inequalities in the world of work.
