Exclusion can be defined as a process by which certain individuals or groups of unspecified people find themselves sidelined from society, deprived of full participation in social, economic and cultural life. It is characterized by a breakdown in social ties and marginalization, resulting from a combination of factors such as unemployment, poverty, health problems, lack of education or discrimination.

In the professional world, exclusion can take the form of :

  • discrimination (refusal to hire, discriminatory dismissal, being excluded from a job because of one's origins, gender, etc.).
  • excluding behaviors (a work environment in which comments stigmatize, humiliate or are violent towards a person or group of people because of their singularity)
