Paternity and childcare leave is a right granted on the occasion of the birth of a child. It is available to the child's biological father, regardless of his marital status (married, civil union, common-law, divorced or separated), even if he does not live with the child or its mother. This right also extends to the person who, without being the biological father, shares the mother's life within the framework of a marriage, PACS or cohabitation. This leave enables the beneficiary to take time off work to welcome the newborn and support the mother, while maintaining social security cover. During this period, the beneficiary may, under certain conditions, receive a daily allowance, thus ensuring financial compensation for the period of absence from work.
